Cumulative or Interest Payout FD?
In a cumulative Fixed Deposit, interest is retained in the deposit and added to the principal. This allows interest to earn further interest until maturity.
In an interest payout Fixed Deposit, interest is paid periodically instead of being added back to the deposit. The original principal is normally returned at maturity, subject to the deposit terms.
Quarterly payout: interest is paid at quarterly intervals rather than being reinvested in the FD.
Cumulative FD: generally suitable when the objective is to allow the deposit to grow until maturity.
How Is the Cumulative FD Maturity Calculated?
For a cumulative deposit, this calculator compounds the deposit at the frequency selected above. Quarterly compounding is shown as the default, but the actual compounding method depends on the bank and the particular deposit product.
Important About Monthly Interest Payouts
The monthly payout shown by this calculator is an approximate estimate. A bank may calculate monthly interest using a discounted monthly value or another product-specific method, so the actual monthly credit can differ from a simple annual rate divided into twelve payments.
The figures shown are before applicable tax or TDS. Premature withdrawal penalties and changes in the applicable interest rate on premature closure are not included.
