Bank Grievance & Escalation Directory

Finding the correct grievance-redressal authority can be difficult. This directory helps you locate the official complaint and escalation channels published by major banks in India.

Always lodge your complaint through the bank’s official channels first and preserve the complaint/reference number. If the issue remains unresolved, follow the bank’s prescribed escalation mechanism.

Important: BankBodh does not ask you to submit your account number, card details, PIN, CVV, OTP, password or other confidential banking information through this directory.

Still not resolved by your bank?

You may be able to approach the RBI Ombudsman under the Reserve Bank – Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, 2026.

1. First complain to your bank

Before approaching the RBI Ombudsman, you must first lodge your complaint with the concerned bank.

Keep proof of the complaint and your complaint / reference number.

2. When can you approach the RBI Ombudsman?
Bank has replied, but you are not satisfied?
→ You may approach the RBI Ombudsman.

Bank has not replied?
→ You may approach the RBI Ombudsman after 30 days or after the applicable timeline specified by RBI, NPCI or the Card Network, if any, whichever is higher.
Important — Don’t miss the time limit

Your complaint to the RBI Ombudsman should generally be filed within 90 days from:

→ expiry of the applicable response timeline; or
→ the bank’s last communication to you,

whichever is later.
3. Check whether your complaint is eligible

The RBI Ombudsman mechanism is meant for complaints involving deficiency in service by a regulated entity covered under the Scheme.

Some complaints may not be maintainable — for example, where the customer has not first complained to the bank, the complaint is filed too early or too late, or the same grievance is already pending before or has been dealt with on merits by a Court, Tribunal, Arbitrator or other judicial / quasi-judicial forum.
